The best email hosting provider for one person may be an awkward purchase for a team. Someone buying a private inbox on a personal domain has little use for a full office suite. A company already working in Outlook may value shared calendars and administration more than saving a little on each mailbox.

Start by deciding what you are buying: an address on a provider’s domain, a hosted mailbox on your own domain, or email bundled with collaboration tools. 1. Compare the providers by the job you need done

The order is not a ranking. Each option solves a different combination of problems, and buying features nobody uses does not make an inbox better.

Free email and custom-domain hosting are different purchases

An ordinary Free email, like Gmail or Outlook account gives you an address on the provider’s domain. That can be enough for personal correspondence. Paid storage or a consumer productivity subscription should not be assumed to include hosting for an address such as [email protected].
